Dust & Odour Control Systems For Farms

What is odour control?

The smells generated on a farm can be overpowering, unpleasant, and unsanitary. If you don’t control the smells, then nearby neighbours could put in a complaint. There a several ways to control the odour emissions produced on your farm and animal enclosures. These can be applied by fogging and misting scents and disinfectant into the designated area.

What types of odour control are best for keeping animals?

Depending on industry and application there are different solutions to odour control. You need to take extra care when it comes to live stock, as to not harm them. Some pig farm odour control can be achieved with changing diets and the proper handlining of manure, but most of the smell comes from the dung pit. Proper ventilation is required in order to remove chemicals such as urea and ammonia from the air, and the air should be treated to eradicate what remains. These pits can be controlled using different types of water-based applicators.

Rotary Atomiser Classic

For a solution that can be either fixed, or mobile, the Rotary Atomiser range is a great option for pig farm odour control. The Classic uses powerful centrifugal rotary energy to force the liquid out of the device to create a fine mist. This captures odours and dust particles, and non-toxic chemical additives can neutralise the smells, with a range of up to 20 metres.

Pacific Systems

Horse arenas can become overrun with unpleasant odours, and kick up a lot of dust particles. You need to be cautious with what you use regarding horse arena dust control, as it needs to be non-toxic and easily, and evenly distributed. The pacific system offers a targeted mist in a zonal area, which works best for areas with enclosed boundaries.

What is ODR?

ODR is the term for the combination of odour-neutralising technology and essential oils that aim to eliminate foul odours from an area. These malodours are replaced with clean smelling fragrances, although, you can opt to have odourless alternatives. ODR comes in a variety of strengths, depending on what they are being used for. Here are the different levels used that would be applicable for animal smell removal.

ODR1

For light or occasional odour issues, OD1 could be ideal. ODR1 is used where the odours are intermittently occurring, so if the horse arena area is seldomly causing odour issues, it could be a could solution.

ODR3

The strength of ODR3 is required for consistent odour problems. If the smells are generated continuously such as with pig farms, then this would be a good level to recommended.

ODR4

Similar to ODR3, ODR4 is used for more consistent odour problems, but where the smell requires a stronger formula. It can be used for intermittent but strong-smelling malodours as well. Such as in food processing facilities.

ODR6 and ODR7

These extra strong formulas are not available to be purchased directly online due to their high levels of chemicals. They are predominantly used in places with extremely foul odours such as abattoirs.

Each of the levels can come in a variety of fragrances, such as: Cotton Fresh, Citrus, Cherry, Festive Forest, Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Strawberry, Green Grass, or completely Natural; no fragrance at all.
